A lot have changed in the smartphone world now a days. The start of the smartphones date from the 1980’s where the only purpose of the phone was to make a phone call. And that smartphone was named as ‘The Brick’.It was very heavy with a weight of 790 grams and have 21 keys.
Then in 1990’s a Finnish company named ‘Nokia’ came into the cell phone technology scene and it introduced a lot of good technology cell phones which were very different from its predecessors. There’s one handset many of you will remember from that time: the ‘Nokia 3210’. During this era, some changes were pretty obvious –size and weight shrunk enormously, it got a real display, fewer keys and battery lives improved. Also, mobile phones got some cutting-edge features, like an internal antenna, mobile games (Snake!) and SMS messaging. With its killer features the Nokia 3210 became one of the most popular mobile phones in history.
2000’s was a revolutionary decade for smartphones as the smartphone market reached its peak. The first major and popular smartphone to release in this decade was the ‘Nokia 6600’. It is still touted as the ‘First Smartphone’. It was running Symbian OS. But the real revolution occurred in the 2nd half of the decade when APPLE Corporation released the first iPhone named as “iPhone 2G”. It was the first smartphone with touch screen and was totally different from the previous smartphones. Other than making calls and sending messages it can be used to surf the internet, install applications, play games, listen to music, capture images and in short, it has changed the whole world of smartphone technology. It opened up a new dimension of smartphones. It ran on the iOS. Also after the iPhone then Google came to the smartphone scene by bringing up a new OS which was named as “Android”. The first smartphone to run Android OS was “HTC Dream”.Then the era of Android and iPhone smartphones began which is going on till now. Many new companies have entered the smartphone industry which are HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony, OPPO, Huawei etc.
Now a days almost all the people use smartphones.
Therefore, as the need of the smartphones has increased the companies are
coming up with much improved smartphones in terms of design, hardware,
performance and software. Now the smartphones are available to everyone. They
are present in different prices such as low end or entry level smartphones,
mid-range smartphones and high end smartphones. Now ‘Nokia’ is using the
Windows OS. Although, every company releases its flagship devices every year
they also release mid range and low range devices. The main improvement of
these smartphones are that now they are water proof, have quad core and octa
core processors, NFC and many more features. The best smartphones present
now-a-days are HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus, Sony
Xperia Z3, Lg G3 etc. Although there are many tablets available as well which
have reduced the use of computers. And this is not the end of the smartphone
technology, there is many more to come.
